Thomas County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Thomas County Schools served 5,493 K–12 students outside the separate Thomasville City school system. Its regular network is countywide and strongly age-banded: Hand-in-Hand Primary carries prekindergarten and kindergarten, Garrison-Pilcher Elementary receives grades one and two, Cross Creek Elementary covers grades three and four, Thomas County Middle begins with grade five, and Thomas County Central High serves grades nine through twelve.

The fifth-grade move is the unusual hinge. Thomas County Middle spans four grades, 5–8, so a student enters the secondary campus a year earlier than in a conventional grades 6–8 model. All ordinary county routes pass through the same sequence; the elementary school names mark successive age stages across the entire county.

Several specialized settings sit alongside that ladder. Thomas County Academy serves older students in a separate 8–12 environment. The Renaissance Center provides another supportive educational setting, while Pathways combines educational and therapeutic support for students affected by trauma. Current district materials use the Thomas County Academy name, although older Bishop Hall references remain visible in legacy pages.

A Thomasville-area family must first separate city residency from county residency. Within the county district, grade identifies the ordinary campus, and any Academy, Renaissance or Pathways placement follows its own purpose and referral process.
