Tift County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Tift County Schools enrolled 7,094 K–12 students in a current secondary map with two grades 6–8 middle schools, Eighth Street Middle and Northeast Middle, feeding one Tift County High School. Elementary zones determine which middle campus a student enters, and the two populations come together for grades nine through twelve.

The district is also planning a significant future reconfiguration. The board has approved design and construction work for a new grades 5–6 school associated with replacing the present Eighth Street Middle facility. Broader E-SPLOST planning also anticipates new capacity for the lower grades. Those projects show where the system is heading, while the operating 2026–27 map still places grades six through eight at both Eighth Street and Northeast.

This timing matters for families reading construction pages. The proposed 5–6 configuration remains a future implementation. A student entering sixth grade now uses the existing attendance zone; the new grade division will become relevant after the replacement campus opens and the district implements the accompanying assignments.
