Sources & Corrections

How we review Georgia school district calendar sources and keep pages useful for families.

Primary Sources

Georgia School Calendar works from public calendar information, prioritizing district-published sources whenever they are available. Preferred sources include official district calendar pages, board-approved PDF calendars, district news releases, academic calendar documents, and official calendar files published by the district or public charter network. When a final district calendar has not been released, a page may be marked projected and used only as an early planning aid.

Source Priority

When more than one source is available, we use the clearest current source for the school year and label the page status accordingly. In general, we prioritize:

  1. A current official district calendar page or board-approved academic calendar PDF.
  2. A district-hosted calendar file, calendar document, or school-year announcement.
  3. A public charter network calendar page for statewide or multi-campus networks.
  4. A district news post or board packet when it clearly identifies the adopted calendar.
  5. A projected planning calendar only when stronger district-published information is not yet available.

How Dates Are Normalized

Districts publish calendars in different formats. Some use color-coded PDFs, some publish web calendars, and some separate student days from staff workdays. We convert those sources into a consistent family-facing format while preserving important distinctions such as student holidays, teacher planning days, early-release days, remote learning days, projected-calendar labels, and draft-calendar warnings when the source includes them.

What We Summarize

District pages focus on dates families often need for planning:

Update Process

When a district publishes a new calendar or updates an existing one, we review the public source, update the district page, and show the latest page update date where practical. Projected pages may be replaced or revised when a stronger source becomes available. Some districts revise calendars after initial publication, so important dates should always be checked against the current district source before final decisions are made.

What We Do Not Use

We avoid relying on unverified social media posts, private documents, anonymous screenshots, outdated third-party copies, or school-specific event calendars when a districtwide academic calendar is required. If a district has not clearly published a final calendar, the page should identify that uncertainty instead of presenting the dates as final.

Corrections

If you believe a calendar page needs correction, send us the district name, school year, date in question, and a link to the best available source. We review correction requests against district-published documents when available before changing a page.

If you have a current official calendar for a Georgia district or public charter network that is not yet listed on this site, you can share that source link as well. We review new calendar submissions before adding them to the directory.

Correction requests can be sent through our contact page.

Independent Directory

Georgia School Calendar is an independent informational website. We are not affiliated with Georgia school districts, public charter networks, the Georgia Department of Education, or any government office. External links are provided so readers can verify dates with the district's current source.
