Valdosta City Schools Calendar 2027–2028

Valdosta City Schools served 7,986 K–12 students through five elementary schools, J.L. Newbern and Valdosta middle schools, and one Valdosta High School. The city system is separate from Lowndes County Schools, so a Valdosta mailing address must be matched to the municipal boundary before the neighborhood feeder can be identified.

The district’s secondary choice map changed on June 30, 2026, when Valdosta Early College Academy ended operations. VECA had served grades six through twelve as a separate early-college program. Valdosta stated that STEM pathways, honors courses, Advanced Placement, dual enrollment and the International Baccalaureate Programme had expanded across the home middle and high schools, allowing those accelerated options to continue within the regular campuses.

Some district navigation and archived recruitment pages still display the VECA name. They preserve information about the former program; VECA no longer accepts 2026–27 enrollment. Current students use Newbern or Valdosta Middle and then Valdosta High unless another presently operating program changes the schedule. The city-county boundary and the student’s neighborhood feeder now carry greater practical importance than the discontinued VECA application.
