Colquitt County Schools Calendar 2027–2028

Colquitt County Schools is in the middle of a clearly dated secondary reconfiguration. Older 2024–25 state records show Willie J. Williams Middle serving grades six and seven, C. A. Gray Junior High serving grades eight and nine, and Colquitt County High serving grades ten through twelve. For 2026–27, the district’s current back-to-school information addresses Gray’s incoming eighth-graders, while a 16-classroom addition at the high school was built to bring ninth grade onto the CCHS campus.

The operating sequence is now elementary school, Williams for grades six and seven, Gray for grade eight, and Colquitt County High beginning with grade nine. This is not a cosmetic name change. It removes the freshman year from the junior-high campus and shifts a full grade into the comprehensive high school. Archived directories may continue to display the former 8–9 and 10–12 spans because those were accurate before the move.

Among the district’s 8,297 K–12 students, younger children still attend one of several community K–5 schools across Moultrie, Doerun, Funston, Norman Park and other areas. Those routes converge before the unusual two-stage secondary transition. Colquitt is best understood through its current grade locations, not through an older state snapshot or the assumption that a “junior high” automatically contains ninth grade.
