Coffee County Schools Calendar 2027–2028

Coffee County Schools uses a separate ninth-grade campus between middle school and the upper high-school years. Its 7,255 K–12 students move from eight community elementary schools to Coffee Middle, then to George Washington Carver Freshman Campus for grade nine. Coffee High is the county’s comprehensive high school for the later grades. The freshman campus is a regular step in the countywide feeder path, not an optional academy.

Wiregrass Regional College and Career Academy works differently. Located in partnership with Wiregrass Georgia Technical College, it admits secondary students to career-focused programs through a separate process and course plan. Coffee Educational Academy provides another nontraditional setting for grades six through twelve. Neither replaces the assigned middle, freshman and high-school sequence for the general student population.

The word “academy” points to three unrelated functions in Coffee County: a mandatory freshman transition, an application-based career destination and an alternative educational placement. The useful distinction concerns how a student reaches each building, since the three academy labels serve different roles. Every ordinary ninth-grader attends Carver; only students using the relevant program or placement route attend the other specialized settings.
