Savannah-Chatham County Public School System Calendar 2027–2028

Savannah-Chatham County Public School System counted 34,229 K–12 students across Savannah and the surrounding county. Its neighborhood network uses more than one K–8 progression. Conventional elementary and middle schools operate alongside K–8 campuses, so two families assigned to the same eventual high school may reach the secondary grades through different numbers of campus changes.

The district’s choice system forms a second layer over that mixed neighborhood map. Families apply during a defined annual window, and eligible applicants enter lotteries when demand exceeds capacity. Several programs add academic or program-specific criteria. Garrison School for the Arts and Savannah Arts Academy also use auditions, making their entry process materially different from a residence-based transfer.

Choice eligibility comes next, followed by the lottery, audition or other review attached to the selected program.
