Glynn County Schools Calendar 2027–2028

Glynn County Schools serves 12,278 K–12 students across Brunswick, the mainland and the Golden Isles. St. Simons Island has two ordinary K–5 schools—St. Simons Elementary and Oglethorpe Point Elementary—but island residency does not create a separate island school district or a complete island-based K–12 ladder. Older students enter the county’s middle- and high-school zoning system.

The district’s two comprehensive high schools, Brunswick High and Glynn Academy, anchor the current secondary map. Transfers depend on available capacity and follow a process separate from zoning; transportation generally remains tied to the assigned-school structure. The physical divide between island and mainland makes the precise attendance zone essential.

Glynn has published a rezoning plan for implementation in fall 2027, including proposed changes to elementary, middle and high-school pathways. As of August 7, 2026, those future maps should not replace the operating 2026–27 assignments. Both island elementary schools remain part of the current network. Families need to distinguish today’s address zone from a later plan that has been publicly described but has not yet taken effect.
