About Morgan County Schools
Morgan County Schools moves 3,459 K–12 students along a four-stage countywide ladder: Morgan County Primary, Morgan County Elementary for grades three through five, Morgan County Middle and Morgan County High. The system’s “Charter” title refers to district governance and local school councils, not four separately chosen charter campuses.
In April 2026 the district broke ground on the future home of its new Primary and Elementary programs. That milestone moves the project into active development, while the current buildings remain in service until the replacement opens. For 2026–27, the existing Primary and Elementary remain the active first two stops in the feeder sequence.
Morgan is simple organizationally and transitional physically. Every regular student changes schools after second, fifth and eighth grade; the construction project changes where the first two stages will eventually be housed, not who is assigned to them. The key distinctions are an underway facility replacement versus an operating campus change, and charter governance versus school-choice admission.
