Irwin County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Irwin County Schools places its entire regular K–12 network in Ocilla. Irwin County Elementary carries PK–5, the middle school receives grades six through eight, and the high school begins with ninth grade. The three campuses together recorded 1,525 students in the fall 2024 K–12 count; there is no second town-based feeder or combined secondary school behind the district name.

The part of the system that extends furthest beyond those buildings is Migrant Education. Irwin identifies and supports eligible children and young people from age three through twenty-one when qualifying agricultural work and family mobility interrupt schooling. A preschool-age child receiving migrant services is not enrolled in a fourth feeder school, and an older youth can remain eligible after the ordinary age span of the high school.

Irwin has two different kinds of reach: a compact three-campus assignment line for resident students and a cross-age service built around the county’s migrant agricultural population. The first determines where a child attends; the second follows eligibility and mobility. Treating the program as another campus would distort a district whose physical school map is otherwise unusually concentrated.
