Berrien County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Berrien County Schools uses a countywide age ladder for most of its 2,935 K–12 students: Berrien Primary, Berrien Elementary, Berrien Middle and Berrien High. The district has one regular school at each main grade band, so neighborhood boundaries do not produce competing middle- or high-school paths.

Berrien Academy Performance Learning Center appears as a second institution serving grades nine through twelve, but it is not a second comprehensive high school. The academy is a small performance-learning setting authorized by the district for students who need a different route to complete secondary school. Berrien High remains the ordinary home high school for the countywide progression.

That distinction explains the otherwise puzzling secondary directory. Two schools may carry high-school grades, yet only one represents the standard address-based route. “Berrien Academy” is a specialized placement with its own expectations, not a geographic alternative to Berrien High. The district’s school map stays simple; the secondary support structure is what adds the extra name.
