Bacon County School District Calendar 2026–2027

Bacon County School District has one of the clearest grade-based progressions in Georgia. Its 2,010 K–12 students move through Bacon County Primary, Bacon County Elementary, Bacon County Middle and Bacon County High. Every ordinary student changes schools at the same grade breaks, so a resident family is not choosing among multiple middle- or high-school feeder communities.

The district’s treatment of students who live outside Bacon County provides the more unusual feature. The district accepts annual out-of-county applications without charging a registration fee, but admission is not automatic. The student must apply each year, be accepted by the school and remain subject to the district’s ability to revoke that approval. That is a discretionary enrollment route, not a permanent attendance right equivalent to county residency.

Bacon’s structure is simple only after the enrollment basis is established. A resident child follows the countywide age ladder. A nonresident child may attend the same campuses but reaches them through an annual approval process that can change independently of grade promotion. The distinction explains why two students at the same school may have different guarantees of continuing enrollment.
