Appling County School System Calendar 2026–2027

Appling County School System does not use one elementary arrangement across the whole county. Among its 3,207 K–12 students, children in the Baxley area move through separate primary and upper-elementary campuses, while Altamaha Elementary and Fourth District Elementary keep a broader range of elementary grades together in their own communities. Those routes eventually converge at Appling County Middle and Appling County High, making the elementary years more geographically varied than the countywide secondary sequence.

That distinction is easy to miss in a simple school list. Appling County Primary and Appling County Elementary form consecutive parts of one age-banded Baxley route. Altamaha and Fourth District serve families farther from the central pair and reduce the need to treat every younger child as part of the same town-based progression. The current elementary assignment determines when that first campus change will occur.

Southern Pines College and Career Academy adds another layer for secondary students. Appling promotes its career pathways through the academy and directs families to separate program information for course offerings, but Southern Pines does not replace Appling County High as the county’s comprehensive address-based high school. The ordinary feeder path and the career-academy schedule answer different questions: one identifies the student’s home schools, while the other identifies a specialized course destination.
