Taylor County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Taylor County Schools counted 1,110 K–12 students in a four-stage system centered on Butler. Taylor County Primary serves prekindergarten through grade two, Taylor County Upper Elementary receives grades three through five, Taylor County Middle covers grades six through eight, and Taylor County High completes the sequence.

“Upper Elementary” is a required countywide step in this ladder. Every ordinary third-grader moves there after Taylor County Primary, and students remain through fifth grade before the middle-school transition. Its role in the directory is the district’s standard grades 3–5 school, and every ordinary route passes through it.

Taylor’s assignment process is driven almost entirely by grade because each level has one regular campus. The important question is where the district places the elementary break: children change schools after second grade, several years earlier than in a K–5 system. Once that timing is understood, the remaining middle and high-school path is direct.
