About Pike County Schools
Pike County Schools has a more segmented secondary route than its 3,346 K–12 enrollment suggests. The ordinary sequence begins at Pike County Primary, continues through Pike County Elementary and Pike County Middle, then sends all freshmen to Pike County Ninth Grade Academy. Pike County High serves grades ten through twelve, following the districtwide ninth-grade campus.
The separate freshman year is a full grade-level campus in the ordinary secondary sequence. It has its own campus identity and school information, making the transition after eighth grade different from the later move into grades ten through twelve. Ninth-grade schedules and notices come from the Academy even when broader records associate the student with Pike County High.
Zebulon High School is a very small blended option combining online and in-person instruction and sharing the freshman-academy site. It is not a second geographic high-school zone parallel to Pike County High. Pike’s secondary names represent three different functions: a universal ninth-grade stage, an upper comprehensive high school and a nontraditional 9–12 option. Treating all three as ordinary competing high schools would misstate the system.
