Monroe County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Monroe County Schools enrolled 4,506 K–12 students in three elementary communities—Katherine B. Sutton, Samuel E. Hubbard and T.G. Scott—followed by one county middle school and Mary Persons High. The high school’s name is historic and locally familiar, and it serves as the ordinary comprehensive destination for the entire county.

The middle-school name is more likely to cause current confusion. The district now presents one Monroe County Middle School at the Brooklyn Avenue site. Older state records and web pages may still identify Banks Stephens Middle School or refer to a Banks Stephens campus, creating the appearance of a second middle school or two parallel organizations where the current feeder system has only one.

That naming transition matters because all three elementary routes converge at the same grades 6–8 school. Building a feeder map from both “Banks Stephens” and “Monroe County Middle” would create competing destinations that do not exist. They reflect different naming layers around the same current countywide stage, which then advances to Mary Persons High.
