McDuffie County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

McDuffie County Schools’ present elementary map no longer matches the 2024–25 state snapshot used for its 2,961-student K–12 count. Before the 2025–26 year, the system still listed the old Maxwell and Thomson elementary campuses separately. Their students were consolidated into a new Maxwell Elementary building serving prekindergarten through third grade.

R.L. Norris Elementary now carries the next two grades, four and five. Dearing Elementary remains a full PK–5 community school. McDuffie consequently has two different elementary experiences at the same time: much of the Thomson area follows Maxwell PK–3 and Norris 4–5, while the Dearing community can remain in one elementary building through fifth grade.

All ordinary routes then reach Thomson-McDuffie Middle and Thomson High. The reconfiguration did not add another feeder; it removed two old facilities from the active map and reorganized the Thomson sequence around a new lower-elementary building and an existing upper-elementary school. Search results that still send families to Thomson Elementary or the old Maxwell describe a school network that ceased operating before the current 2026–27 year.
