Marietta City Schools Calendar 2027–2028

Marietta City Schools is an independent municipal system inside Cobb County, serving 8,530 K–12 students. Most children begin in a neighborhood K–5 elementary school. Marietta Center for Advanced Academics provides a separate grades 3–5 STEAM magnet route for students admitted to that program; it is not the upper-elementary campus automatically assigned to every city resident.

The citywide transition begins after fifth grade. All ordinary and magnet routes enter Marietta Sixth Grade Academy for one year, then Marietta Middle for grades seven and eight and Marietta High for grades nine through twelve. The single-grade academy is part of the regular feeder system, while the Center for Advanced Academics is a choice school. Their similar “academy” labels describe opposite enrollment roles.

Residency must also be distinguished from a Marietta postal address. Large portions of the Marietta mailing area fall within Cobb County School District, outside the city system. A family must first establish municipal district eligibility, then determine the neighborhood elementary or a successful magnet placement. Once sixth grade begins, those early routes converge into the same three-campus secondary progression.
