Jackson County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Jackson County Schools had 10,675 K–12 students in a network that is both uneven in the present and visibly under construction for the future. The current East Jackson route places grades six and seven at East Jackson Middle, then moves eighth-graders into East Jackson Comprehensive High, which serves grades eight through twelve. The district’s other ordinary secondary routes use the more familiar 6–8 middle and 9–12 high configuration.

That difference is not a typographical accident. An East Jackson eighth-grader needs high-school campus information a year before a student assigned to West Jackson Middle or Legacy Knoll. Empower College and Career Center adds shared career programming, but it does not function as another residentially zoned comprehensive high school.

The next major reconfiguration has been approved but is not yet current. Hayes Farm Elementary and Hoschton High are scheduled to open in August 2027, followed by Sell’s Mill Middle in August 2028. Those projects will build a new cluster in stages; they should not be used to replace the operating 2026–27 boundaries or to assume that every future Hoschton student already has a complete elementary-to-high feeder.

Jackson County also contains the independent Jefferson City and Commerce City systems. A Jackson County mailing address can raise two separate questions: which school district governs the residence, and within the county system, whether the student follows the East Jackson configuration or one of the conventional secondary routes.
