Hart County Charter System Calendar 2026–2027

Hart County Charter System enrolled 3,593 K–12 students in three elementary communities—Hartwell, North Hart and South Hart—that share one middle school and one high school. Current 2026–27 materials place grades six through eight at Hart County Middle and treat incoming ninth-graders as the new students at Hart County High. Older data snapshots that carry some eighth-grade enrollment under the high-school entity should not be used to redefine the operating grade line.

The word “Charter” describes the district’s governance model, not a countywide replacement of attendance zones with independent choice schools. Each school has a local governance team, while the elected board retains control of the public system. A Hartwell-area family is still identifying an assigned elementary school and then following the common middle-to-high progression; it is not applying separately to five autonomous charter campuses.

Hart College and Career Academy, the Agriscience Center and the Health and Wellness Center add shared facilities and specialized coursework around the regular network. Hart Academy serves a nontraditional or alternative purpose. None of those names creates a fourth elementary zone or a second comprehensive high school. Hart is best understood as a compact five-school feeder system with several countywide instructional facilities layered onto it.
