Harris County School District Calendar 2027–2028

Harris County School District does not wait until middle school to bring its elementary communities together. Its 5,371 K–12 students begin in four schools that end after fourth grade—Mulberry Creek, New Mountain Hill, Park and Pine Ridge—then enter Creekside School for grades five and six. Harris County Carver Middle covers only grades seven and eight, followed by a single county high school.

Creekside is not another neighborhood elementary and not a conventional grades 6–8 middle school. It is the first countywide meeting point and a two-year bridge between four local elementary populations and the later secondary system. Carver performs a different, shorter role immediately afterward. A reference to “middle-school students” can be ambiguous here because fifth- and sixth-graders already use a transition campus while the building named Middle School starts with seventh grade.

The district’s ordinary path is a four-stage sequence: PK–4, 5–6, 7–8 and 9–12. That structure explains how the district’s elementary communities converge before high school. The child’s elementary assignment determines the first campus, but every regular route converges before adolescence and remains countywide from Creekside forward.
