Echols County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Echols County Schools serves 856 K–12 students through only two regular campuses. Echols County Elementary/Middle keeps students together from prekindergarten through eighth grade, and Echols County High receives them for grades nine through twelve. The district has no separate elementary and middle-school feeder communities.

The two-campus form grew out of an earlier one-school arrangement. Echols once operated the full K–12 program at a single site; a new elementary/middle facility opened around the 2009–10 transition, while the high school remained at the original campus. That history explains why the present system is neither a three-school ladder nor one combined K–12 school.

For current families, the practical path is unusually continuous. Children remain in the same school organization through the entire middle-grade period and make their only ordinary K–12 campus transition when they become freshmen. Echols’ small scale is important, but the more useful fact is how that scale has been divided: one PK–8 community school and one separate high school.
