Newton County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Newton County Schools enrolled 18,042 K–12 students in three comprehensive high-school communities: Alcovy, Eastside and Newton. Neighborhood elementary and middle schools feed those three address-based destinations, which form the district’s ordinary geographic structure.

Newton County STEAM Academy operates outside that three-cluster map. The K–8 application school was previously known as Newton County Theme School at Ficquett, and older directories or bookmarked pages may still use that name. The new and old titles refer to the same choice-school lineage, not two separate K–8 campuses. Its students enter through an application process tied to the academy, with no residential feeder zone of its own.

Newton College and Career Academy, a STEM institute, virtual instruction and alternative settings add still other program names at the secondary level. None changes the fact that Alcovy, Eastside and Newton are the three comprehensive residential high schools. The practical distinction is whether a name represents a zoned feeder, a full K–8 choice school, a course destination or a nontraditional placement. The STEAM Academy’s renaming makes that classification especially important.
