About Lamar County Schools
Lamar County Schools moves its 2,739 K–12 students through four countywide age bands. Lamar County Primary serves prekindergarten through second grade, Lamar County Elementary takes grades three through five, and the full cohort continues to Lamar County Middle and Lamar County High. The first two campuses are successive age-banded steps in one elementary route.
That arrangement means the district does not need a neighborhood feeder map to explain which PK–5 school a child uses. Age determines the campus: a second-grader and a third-grader from the same household attend different schools because the system changes buildings after grade two. The Barnesville location of the schools does not create a separate Barnesville city district.
Career pathways are delivered through Lamar County High within the county’s single comprehensive high-school assignment. The ordinary enrollment record remains attached to the four-stage route even when an older student selects a specialized pathway. Lamar’s central feature is the countywide division of elementary education by grade, followed by one shared secondary sequence.
