Fulton County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Fulton County Schools is geographically unusual for a district of 84,901 K–12 students. Atlanta Public Schools cuts through the middle of the county, dividing Fulton’s major school communities into northern and southern sections. The district administers its schools through seven Learning Zones containing elementary, middle and high-school clusters, while explicitly excluding APS.

An Atlanta mailing address can belong to either system, and several other city names—Alpharetta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Milton, College Park or Union City—do not identify separate municipal districts. The current FCS address lookup must resolve both the school system and the neighborhood cluster.

Fulton also maintains schools whose admissions do not follow an ordinary attendance boundary. Innovation Academy and Global Impact Academy are specialized high schools; Fulton Academy of Virtual Excellence provides a permanent remote model; the College and Career Academy and Promise Career Institute have their own program functions. Their placement rules differ from the guaranteed cluster assignment and from one another.

The district should not be read as a single list of interchangeable high schools. Learning Zones organize the address-based network across a physically divided county. Specialized schools create additional routes through application, program selection or virtual enrollment. The first question is whether the address is in FCS at all; the second is the resident cluster; only then can a family evaluate a non-zoned option.
