Douglas County Schools Calendar 2028–2029

Douglas County Schools enrolled 25,356 K–12 students in five geographic high-school communities: Alexander, Chapel Hill, Douglas County, Lithia Springs and New Manchester. The City of Douglasville does not operate a separate municipal school district, so city and county addresses remain inside the county system; the current feeder map determines which of the five clusters applies.

Brighten Academy is a district-authorized K–8 charter school and does not have a conventional neighborhood attendance zone equivalent to one of the county’s elementary-middle feeders. The directory also includes nontraditional and specialized placements that serve particular student populations. Their enrollment rules differ from both Brighten’s charter process and the address assignment used by ordinary county schools.

Douglas’s full school list contains several program types layered onto five geographic high-school clusters. Five high schools anchor the geographic system. Brighten provides a charter route only through eighth grade, after which a student’s next placement must be understood separately. Other academies or learning centers address program and support needs within the existing residential clusters. The district becomes clear once school type is separated from school name.
