Chickamauga City Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Chickamauga City Schools is a three-school municipal system surrounded by Walker County Schools. Its 1,253 K–12 students move from Chickamauga Elementary to Gordon Lee Middle and Gordon Lee High. The Gordon Lee name can obscure the fact that the middle and high schools belong to the City of Chickamauga as parts of its municipal district.

City residency creates the ordinary entitlement to attend. Students who live outside the Chickamauga district may apply as tuition-paying nonresidents, with each application subject to review and approval. The district requires annual tuition and residency documentation, and acceptance can depend on available space and continued compliance with its enrollment rules. A nonresident seat is not the same as an address-based assignment that automatically continues from one year to the next.

The district’s feeder path is simple; its enrollment boundary is not. A Chickamauga mailing address, a Walker County residence and a city-school attendance right are three different facts. Once eligibility is established, the child follows one uninterrupted citywide ladder. For families outside the municipal boundary, the key issue is the status of the tuition application, not which neighborhood elementary school feeds Gordon Lee.
