Calhoun City Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Calhoun City Schools and Calhoun County Schools are two unrelated public-school systems in different parts of Georgia. Calhoun City Schools serves the City of Calhoun in Gordon County, where 3,981 K–12 students move through a citywide sequence that divides the early grades more finely than most districts: the Early Learning Academy serves prekindergarten and kindergarten, Calhoun Primary serves grades one through three, Calhoun Elementary serves grades four through six, Calhoun Middle serves grades seven and eight and Calhoun High serves grades nine through twelve.

That configuration places sixth grade in an elementary school and gives the middle school only two grade levels. A generic K–5/6–8 assumption assigns the wrong campus to both sixth- and seventh-grade students. The words “Early Learning,” “Primary” and “Elementary” describe successive stages of the regular city feeder path, with each name tied to a different grade band in the same progression.

Calhoun Online Learning Academy and Calhoun College & Career Academy add specialized routes at the secondary level. They should not be counted as extra address-based high schools beside Calhoun High. The district’s real complexity comes from the combination of an unusual grade ladder, separate online and career programs, and a name that can easily be confused with the very small Calhoun County district in southwest Georgia.
