Buford City Schools Calendar 2027–2028

Buford City Schools organizes 5,989 K–12 students into one unusually fine-grained citywide ladder. Buford Elementary serves the earliest grades, Buford Academy serves grades one and two, Buford Senior Academy serves grades three through five, Buford Middle serves grades six through eight and Buford High completes the sequence. Every resident student changes buildings several times even though there are no competing neighborhood feeder clusters.

“Academy” and “Senior Academy” are ordinary grade-band schools in that progression. They are not application programs layered over a separate elementary assignment. The names describe consecutive stages, so a family entering grade three moves to Senior Academy because of age, not because the child won admission to a specialty school.

Buford also enrolls some students from outside the city district through a tightly controlled route. For 2026–27 the district accepted nonresident tuition applications only at kindergarten and grade nine, charged tuition and closed the application window after the published period. Nonresident access is a limited entry point, not a general promise that any nearby Gwinnett or Hall County student can join the city system. Residency and tuition admission lead to the same age-banded schools, but they are not equivalent enrollment rights.
