Wayne County Schools Calendar 2026–2027

Wayne County Schools enrolled 5,077 K–12 students across five elementary campuses tied to distinct parts of the county. Two middle campuses divide the county for grades six through eight, and Wayne County High becomes the common final destination. The elementary map retains the geography of the county: Jesup has James E. Bacon, Jesup and Martha Smith elementary schools, while Odum and Screven keep local campuses in their own communities.

At sixth grade, the district’s zone tool assigns students to Arthur Williams Middle or Martha Puckett Middle. Those two routes remain separate through eighth grade and then converge at Wayne County High. A family moving between Jesup, Odum and Screven needs the current zone information; the elementary school name may leave the later middle assignment unresolved.

Wayne combines community-based elementary access with consolidated secondary education in stages. Local towns preserve their own early-grade schools, two middle schools absorb the county’s wider geography, and one high school becomes the final common destination. The pattern is more informative than a simple count of eight schools because each level concentrates the county in a different way.
